Surin Beach

Located within a 20 minute drive from the Phuket International Airport and only a 15 minute drive from the popular Patong Beach is Surin Beach. Surin Beach is a striking holiday destination with its fine white sand and turquoise water. Its clear waters make it an ideal destination for snorkelling, swimming, kayaking and surfing. With some of the best snorkelling to be found near the rocks of the southern end of the beach where many colourful tropical fish can be seen. Surin Beach is approximately 800 metres long boasting a casuarina lined beachfront and an endless stream of colourful sunbeds running along its expanse.

Surin Beach provides less crowds and a more relaxed laid back atmosphere. Surin Beach itself is a small mountainous place likened more to a coastal Thai village than a tourist hub. Its natural beauty has attracted many millionaires’ to build properties that adorn the hillside overlooking the Andaman Sea. The accommodation in Surin Beach follows suit with exclusive and luxurious boutique hotels such as The Chedi and Twinpalms. There are two main locations to consider when choosing accommodation at Surin Beach. Hotels located on the beachfront or located in the hills providing some breathtaking views over the Andaman Sea. Many of the hotels on the hillside will run shuttle buses up and down the hillsides to the beach and shops for their guests.

Behind the beach is one of Thailand’s oldest golf courses that has been transformed into a magnificent public park enjoyed by Thai locals and visitors alike. The park separates Surin Beach from its main road where many of its boutique hotels, shops and restaurants are situated. Nightlife in Surin Beach consists of restaurants, beach cafes and wine bars as an alternative to the bars and nightclubs known to Patong Beach. Dining options are focussed on the beachfront and the main road known as Haad Surin Soi 8. Seafood features predominately in the dishes on offer, with the beachfront restaurants offering more authentic Thai cuisine and the main road restaurants offering a mixture of eastern and western influences.

The Plaza Surin a glitzy upmarket shopping destination offers visitors to Surin Beach a stylish and sophisticated place to shop. With two levels providing stores devoted to home décor, entertainment, antiques, collectibles and fashion, whilst the top level is reserved for Silk a popular fine dining restaurant, bar and lounge.
