Known for its party atmosphere, Patong Beach in Phuket boasts a wide range of markets, stall and shops, white sandy beaches filled with sun lounges and colourful beach umbrellas, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, hotels and resorts. Patong Beach Phuket is able to meet the requirements of the budget conscious traveller as well as those seeking high end luxury accommodation. After Patong Beach, Karon Beach is the next most lively beachside region of Phuket. Like Patong is has a great range of shops, restaurants, lounges and bars just metres from the soft white sand of Karon Beach. Home to the Laguna Phuket complex, Bang Tao Bay also has a stunning beach. The Laguna Phuket is a large resort complex with five luxury resorts, amazing shopping and a range of dining choices. Kamala Beach is a secluded stretch of sand, conveniently located just north of Patong but with a far more relaxed feel. A charming bay and fishing village, the area is well protected by the surrounding hills and lush vegetation. Renowned as one of the most beautiful places in Phuket, Kamala doesn't attract tourists in quite the same numbers as other areas but is a well-kept secret with loyal visitors. The small hotels, villas and apartments that are nestled around the village provide a cosy place to relax and enjoy the fantastic views of Kamala Bay.
Nai Yang Beach is surrounded by impressive casuarina trees giving it a distinct feeling unlike those of most beaches to the south. Swimming at the beach is still good, even at low tide and the large coral reef just off the shore has an abundance of marine life and ornate shells that frequently wash ashore. As the last stop for the northern beach safari, Nai Yang Beach as a number of hotels, resorts, apartments and villas including one resort with a resident elephant that you can ride along the beach for just a few baht.
Divided into two distinct areas by a 300 m long esplanade, Cape Panwa is a tranquil haven for those who enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. The western part is adjacent to the Thai Navy Headquarters and is popular with fishermen who use the beach to dock their longtail boats. The south western side of the beach is a pristine stretch of sand that has remained unspoilt even after the urbanisation of the main areas. Enjoying scenic views of Chalong Bay and Lone Island, this area of the beach is lined with luxury villas, resorts, condominiums and hotels with charming fishermen's huts scattered in between.
Situated on Phuket's northwest coast, Mai Khao Beach is 11 km of casuarina-lined beach with very little development. Close to Phuket's International Airport and Nai Yang Beach, Mai Khao Beach is part of the Sirinath National Park. The Park stretches for 10 miles along the beach and is home to the Giant Ridley Sea Turtle which return to the shores at night to lay their eggs between November and February. Meeting with the Andaman Sea, Mai Khao Beach is renowned for its stunning isolation. Located 24 km southeast of Chalong pier, Ko Racha Yai Island is nestled on Phuket's east coast and offers crystal waters, pristine sand beaches and fantastic diving, snorkelling and fishing.
