Cape Panwa, Mai Khao Beach, Relax Bay & Kamala Beach

Phuket has many beautiful destinations to offer, outlined below are just a few of Phuket’s other fantastic locations.

Cape Panwa is a remote and tranquil destination on the bottom south east coast of Phuket, approximately 50 minutes by drive from Phuket International Airport and 15 minutes drive from Phuket Town. This region provides a serene alternative to the popular west coast beaches. The beach at Cape Panwa is not suitable for swimming however is very good for fishing and boating activities. Long tail boats can be rented out from Panwa Beach for the day and there is a long attractive esplanade with good facilities. There are a few key accommodations available at Cape Panwa; one of the best is Cape Panwa Hotel which has prime beach frontage restricted for access to Cape Panwa Hotel guests only.

In addition to the many restaurants on offer at Cape Panwa Hotel; Cape Panwa has plenty of reasonably priced restaurants and cafes on offer along the esplanade. Panwa Beach is a clean and peaceful beach with no jet skis or banana boats; just a lone beach shack that sells a few beach accessories, making this feel like your very own remote piece of paradise. Stunning views can be seen out to Chalong Bay and Lone Island. Nearby attractions include the fascinating Phuket Aquarium and Phuket Zoo.

Mai Khao Beach is a breathtaking beach at the northwestern shoreline of Phuket. Only 15 minute drive north of Phuket International Airport. Mai Khao Beach is the largest and least developed stretch of beach in Phuket. Part of the protected Sirinath Marine Park Mai Khao Beach is a nesting place for endangered giant leatherback turtles. In April each year young hatchlings are released into the water as part of the Songkran festival.

Mai Khao Beach is on a unique fringing reef making it the perfect location for snorkeling providing hours of fascination for anyone with a snorkel and mask. Bask amongst the 200 coral species, blue-green parrot fish, sea cucumbers, seas urchins and massive brain and spine corals. Dining at Mai Khao Beach is limited to either fine dining available at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa or authentic bamboo and thatch seafood outlets located on the coast road running along the stretch of beach.

Karon Noi Beach also known as Relax Bay is a little piece of paradise just 5 minutes from bustling Patong Beach. The Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort dominates this wonderful little bay with access to the pristine beach only available to resort guests. Relax Bay is known for its magnificent views and perfect location sandwiched between Patong Beach and Karon Beach.

Kamala Beach is laid back expanse of beach located 10 minutes north of Patong Beach and 5 minutes south of Surin Beach. This region offers small to medium size hotels, villas and apartments and tends to attract long stay visitors with many repeat visitors each year. It has a good range of local shops and restaurants and is home to popular theatre style attraction Phuket Fantasea.
